Why to? In GW2 Charr, Norn, Asura and humans won't be 'evil', they will be just... rivals in the mists...

Sylvari are basically going to be Arenanets Elves, imo.

More druids, imo. And besides, it's not like A-Net has really gone over bored copying races. The dwarves and...well, humans(in terms of allied races that is). But Mursaat, Margonites, titans, Asura, Charr, etc are fairly unique.
Anyway, back on topic. Yes we know that the Sylvari will not be in GW:EN as a hero race or anything, but we will experience their birth int he storyline.

AFAIK the Sylvari will be filling the shoes of the Elves in the Guild Wars universe. It was bound to happen, and I can't say I'm sad because of it. I've always loved the whole "concept" behind Elves (the LotR universe elves, that is) of a magically adept people with a rich lore and high intelligence but too independent for their own good. And the Sylvari are an amazing twist of the cookie-cutter Elves virtually every fantasy game has incorporated. Instead of the most ancient od races, it'll be the youngest race in Guild Wars. I like how the Guild Wars universe sets itself apart from most RPG universes by their unique races or twists to existing races and professions.

While i'm not a fan of "Elves" in general and not as entusiastic(sp?) as you are about sylvari. True, though I set them closer to Dryads. Time will tell i guess. Can't wait to see the male Sylvari.
And to Lonesamurai : not so sure about the "widely known" part.

Dryads, at least the variations I've seen in games, don't have a male gender.
The ones in Dungeon Siege 2, for instance, are all female and it's a well-kept secret of how they reproduce. Probably grow like plants, but who knows.
Still, can't wait to see how they're arrival will be presented in GW:EN.

The reason I said "closer to dryads". I'll admit the uni-genderness(?) of dryads.

an inherent magical class with extra attribs is imbalanced, but i hope the skin is awesome.

I didn't mean by what they more resemble from basic fantasy stereotypes, I more meant Arenanets 'highly magical super race that can do anything except take a hit'.

We don't, Steps was just comparing them to Dryads, which are known to have no male gender. No one knows that there will, or will not be Dryad men.

being a new race, they could very well be genderless, or even hermaphrodites, but I doubt Anet will go that far on the subject.
I do think however that we now have a new species for all the hormone stressed 12 year olds.

Im thinking we are going to witness their creation at either the very beggining of GWEN when "Tyria, Cantha, and Elona is expirencing earthquakes" maybe they will come out of the ground lol, or at the end after we defeat the new evil. Hmm i wonder if melandru influcences them...
